We all went to a symposium on Diabetes at the Burlington Holiday inn on Saturday. There was quite a few different speakers there the one we were interested in the most was explaining the pros and cons of using an insulin pump or regular injections. Using a pump means taking a needle once every 3 days instead of after every meal and at bedtime. The cost of a pump is between 5 and 6 thousand dollars and it costs $250.00-$300.00 a month for supplies so you have to convince your group insurance it is needed.
One of the speakers was an olympic rower by the name of Chris Jarvis, he has been living with diabetes for I think he said 11 years. He is using a pump and is very happy with it. We were able to talk to him for a while and the kids had picturwes taken with him. I think he convinced us that a pump would be a good idea for Kelly we just have to choose the style she wants and the representatives will help try and convince the insurance company it is needed. This is a long process so we will just have to wait and see. I am postying a couple of pictures of the kids with Chris. Some of these girls are the ones Kelly was at camp with in the summer

Hey guys, it's Aunt Haydee from up here in the snowy north. It is great to see the pictures on this blog site and get updated on what has been going on. The flooring looks amazing. Kelly, you look like a superstar on skates...Olympics here we come.
Not much is new up here. Mary Lake is now frozen over and I have a nice skating rink in front of my place. Aunt B's operation to move her port went smoothly.
Bye for now,
Love,
Aunt Haydee
